A shocking incident of domestic violence occurred in Naupala village under Parjang police limits in Dhenkanal district, where a man was severely burned after his daughter-in-law allegedly poured hot oil over him during a family dispute, officials said on Tuesday.

According to reports, Srikant Bhutia of Naupala village had an argument with his daughter-in-law over an unspecified issue. In a fit of rage, she poured hot cooking oil over him, causing severe burns to his face and chest. He was immediately rushed to Parjang Medical Hospital in critical condition.

Doctors treating him reported that most of his face and chest were badly burned, prompting them to transfer him to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital for specialized care.

The Parjang police have registered a case and are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident. Officials confirmed that the matter is being treated as a serious act of domestic violence, and further action will be taken against the accused based on the outcome of medical and forensic reports.
