Security concerns at the Puri Srimandir resurfaced after a drone was reportedly spotted flying over the sacred Nilachakra during a significant religious ceremony on Monday. The incident occurred while the Patitapaban Bana ritual was underway, a highly revered event during which the holy flag atop the temple is changed and hoisted.

According to eyewitnesses, the drone hovered around the Nilachakra and moved across the temple premises while the Chhunara servitor performed the flag hoisting ceremony. After lingering over the temple for some time, the aerial device reportedly moved towards the Dolamandap Sahi area. The presence of the drone during such a sacred ritual caused concern among devotees, temple staff, and local residents, reigniting debate over the security arrangements at one of Odisha’s most sensitive religious sites.

This is not the first instance of drones being spotted near the Srimandir.
