The wait for Peddi finally seems worth it. After multiple delays and nearly two years of production, the makers unveiled the much-awaited trailer of the rural sports drama in Mumbai on Monday, offering a glimpse into an emotionally charged world led by Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor.

Mounted on a large scale and packed with earthy visuals, action and emotion, the trailer hints that Peddi is not just about sports — it is about survival, identity and fighting through social barriers.

A Hero Who Belongs to Every Playground

The three-minute trailer opens in Vijayanagaram, Andhra Pradesh, where Peddi is celebrated as the town’s pride. But unlike a conventional sports hero, he doesn’t belong to just one game.

The trailer reveals Ram Charan as a rare “crossover athlete” — a man who dominates cricket fields, steps into kushti arenas and races on running tracks with equal passion. No matter the sport, Peddi appears to be the people’s champion.

Yet beneath the cheers lies struggle. The visuals strongly suggest that Peddi’s journey is shaped by inequality and resistance, forcing him to work harder than everyone around him to prove his worth.

Rustic Setting Meets Emotional Storytelling

Directed and written by Buchi Babu Sana, the film blends sports drama with rural emotions and mass appeal. The narrative appears rooted in village life while carrying themes of ambition, dignity and perseverance.

Janhvi Kapoor plays Achiyyamma, Peddi’s love interest, adding an emotional layer to the rugged setting.

The supporting cast includes Shiva Rajkumar as Gourinaidu, Divyendu as Rambujji and Jagapathi Babu as Appalasoori. The project is backed by Vriddhi Cinemas, with Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings presenting the film.

A Long Road to Release

The collaboration between Ram Charan and Buchi Babu Sana was first announced in 2022, immediately generating curiosity among fans. Excitement only grew when it was revealed in 2024 that Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman would handle the music — a combination rarely seen in Telugu cinema.

Described by the makers as a “rural, emotional and rustic journey”, the film officially began production in March 2024 and eventually went on floors later that year in November.

Filming wrapped only in April 2026 after a prolonged schedule. The release date, meanwhile, went through repeated changes. Initially planned for March 27, the film later shifted after Ustaad Bhagat Singh occupied the slot. Another April release plan also fell through amid postponement rumours before the makers finally locked June 4 as the official release date earlier this month.
