A shocking incident of alleged assault has been reported from Berhampur city in Odisha, where a young man was reportedly pushed off an overbridge by a group of miscreants, leaving him critically injured. The incident took place on the Berhampur-Gopalpur overbridge and has triggered concern among local residents.

According to reports, the injured youth has been identified as Shyam Behera, a resident of Dhanamera Sahi under the Badabazar area. On Saturday morning, Shyam was reportedly sitting on the overbridge when the incident occurred.

Sources said that during this time, a group of miscreants arrived at the spot on two motorcycles. Soon after, an altercation allegedly broke out between Shyam and the group. Following a heated exchange, the miscreants reportedly pushed him off the bridge.

The incident created panic in the area as locals rushed to the spot after witnessing the shocking act. Shyam sustained serious injuries in the fall and was immediately rescued by local residents, who shifted him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

Doctors are currently treating him, and his condition is stated to be critical.

The exact reason behind the attack and the identity of the accused remain unclear. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine who was involved and what led to the violent incident.
