Doctor beaten and strangled to death over land dispute in Odisha’s Kendrapara

A dispute over house renovation work escalated into a fatal incident on Thursday night in Baradanga Nauri Sahi under Mahakalapada police limits in Kendrapara, where a man was allegedly beaten and strangled to death following a violent clash within a family.
The deceased has been identified as Golak, while his elder brother Abhay has been named as the main accused in the case.
According to reports, the incident began when Golak started renovation work at their family house. Abhay objected to the construction work, following which a heated argument broke out between the two brothers. What initially started as a verbal exchange soon escalated as tempers flared and the situation turned uncontrollable within the household.
Verbal dispute escalates into brutal assault
Locals said Abhay allegedly lost control during the altercation and attacked Golak. It is further alleged that he strangled his younger brother during the fight. Soon after, other members of Abhay’s family also allegedly joined in the assault, turning the situation more violent.
Golak was reportedly punched repeatedly, and the attackers allegedly pressed his neck and jumped on his chest while he lay on the ground. Locals said the assault continued for several minutes before he became unconscious and was later rushed for medical help.
He was taken to a nearby medical facility in a critical condition, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Tension grips locality after incident
The incident created tension in the village after news of Golak’s death spread. Locals gathered near the house, and the situation remained sensitive following the incident.

Police detain four, probe underway
Police reached the spot soon after receiving information and detained four persons, including the main accused Abhay, for questioning. Officials said further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and to determine the role of each person involved in the attack.
