According to official sources, Assistant Professor Santosh Kumar Nayak of the Odia Department has been shifted to the Government Autonomous College in Angul district amid growing controversy surrounding the case.
The transfer order was issued by the Department after the matter drew significant attention within the college campus and local academic circles.
The controversy began after students, including both male and female, accused the faculty member of sending objectionable and inappropriate messages to them. The allegations had triggered concern among students and guardians, with a demand for action against the professor.
Though officials have not released detailed findings regarding the complaint, the transfer is being viewed as an important administrative step in response to the allegations. Sources said the department considered the seriousness of the matter before issuing the transfer order.
Worth mentioning, a major controversy had erupted at FM College after students levelled serious allegations against the Head of the Odia Department. Several students had come forward and broken their silence on April 30.
The accusations against HoD Nayak include physical and mental harassment, inappropriate behaviour, and misuse of authority, sparking concern across the academic community.
“For a long time, HoD Santosh Kumar Nayak in our college has been mentally harassing the girls. We are not getting any protection even for our studies. And regarding all these incidents happening to us: first, he sends us inappropriate messages. Then he calls us to his room. He also calls us to visit Chandipur. Everyone is saying this. Such incidents have been happening to me for the last two years,” a female student had said.
“On the 2nd of April, a female student had reported to the ICC for some issues. We had also submitted a complaint to the principal, the Regional Director’s office, and higher authorities, but nothing has been done for the last 15-20 days. No justice has been served. That victim is mentally disturbed. If she makes any mistakes and if she takes any wrong step, who will be responsible?” a male student had expressed.
