Petrol, diesel shortage hits Odisha districts; several filling stations shut, long queues witnessed

Fuel shortage continued to affect several parts of Odisha on Thursday, with reports of petrol and diesel unavailability emerging from districts including Bhadrak, Keonjhar and Bhubaneswar, causing inconvenience to commuters and local residents.
In Bhadrak, several fuel stations reportedly ran out of fuel, forcing customers to return disappointed. Fuel was unavailable at the New Bus Stand fuel station, Kadambeda fuel station and the Post Office Chhak fuel station.
Customers Face Difficulties
Residents expressed concern over the continuing shortage and restrictions imposed at some fuel outlets.
One local resident said, “We are uncertain whether the petrol pump owners stopped purchasing fuel due to increased prices or whether the government stopped supplying it. We are facing multiple issues. A similar situation was seen with LPG cylinders. The petrol pump near Aradi Chhak has imposed a limit that a person cannot purchase fuel beyond Rs 1,000.”
Long Queues Reported In Keonjhar
Meanwhile, long queues were seen outside several petrol pumps in Keonjhar district amid the shortage.
According to reports, two-wheeler riders were being provided fuel worth Rs 100 to Rs 200, while cars were reportedly being given fuel worth Rs 500 to Rs 1,000.
A resident from Keonjhar said, “We are facing severe problems due to this. Our daily life has been affected. The government should ensure adequate fuel supply for daily sustenance.”
Bhubaneswar Also Affected
The shortage also reached the state capital, Bhubaneswar. The Bharat Petroleum petrol pump located at Kalpana Square remained closed on Wednesday due to an unexpected shortage of fuel.
Several commuters who visited the outlet reportedly found a “No Diesel” signboard displayed at the station and were left stranded.
