Minor girl panics, hospitalised after being threatened to withdraw ‘harassment’ case by IIC in Odisha

A serious allegation has surfaced against the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Morada Police Station in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, with a minor girl and her family accusing the officer of intimidation during the handling of a complaint.
The family has now approached the Superintendent of Police (SP), seeking justice and action against the police official.
According to the allegations, the minor girl was reportedly called to the police station and allegedly threatened by the IIC to withdraw a case. The family further claimed that the girl became unconscious following the alleged intimidation and had to be admitted to hospital.
Reports suggest that the incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Morada Police Station in Mayurbhanj district. Following the alleged incident at the police station, the girl reportedly collapsed and was initially admitted to a local hospital in an unconscious condition.
As her health condition did not improve, doctors later shifted her to Baripada Hospital for further treatment. The victim’s mother has directly held the IIC responsible for her daughter’s deteriorating condition and demanded justice. She alleged that the officer’s conduct caused severe mental distress to the minor.

According to information received, the case initially stemmed from allegations against a local youth from the Morada area. The family claimed that the youth had allegedly proposed the minor and subjected her to repeated mental harassment.
Seeking intervention, the minor and her family had earlier approached Morada Police Station to file a complaint regarding the matter. However, instead of formally registering the complaint, they alleged that the police officer avoided taking immediate action and sent them back after engaging in unrelated discussions.
Subsequently, the family reportedly contacted the Betnoti SDPO over phone and informed him about the entire incident. Acting on the complaint, the SDPO allegedly instructed them to revisit the police station and submit a formal FIR.
However, the family alleged that after the intervention from senior officials, the attitude of the police station officer became more aggressive. They claimed that during the process of recording the minor’s statement, she was allegedly threatened by the IIC. Soon after coming out of the police station, the girl reportedly broke down in tears and later lost consciousness.
Meanwhile, no official response from the Morada Police Station IIC has been obtained regarding the allegations at the time of reporting.
