In a swift action against organized crime, the Berhmapur Police apprehended five individuals while they were allegedly planning a robbery in Om Nagar under Bada Bazar police limits, officials said on Tuesday.

 Among those caught were three adults – Rudranarayan Gaud, Akash Bhuya, and Laxman Ghadei – and two minors, who were immediately sent to a juvenile correctional home.

Police sources revealed that the three adults have a long history of criminal activity, with more than 15 cases registered against them in the past. 

The gang was intercepted while actively preparing for the robbery, preventing what could have been a major crime in the area. Investigations indicate that the two minors were acting under the influence and direction of the older gang members, highlighting a concerning trend of juvenile involvement in criminal activities.

During the operation, law enforcement officers seized a substantial cache of weapons and tools, including two knives, an iron rod, two motorcycles, two bombs, and other deadly weapons. Authorities also recovered a drill machine, reportedly intended to break into houses, which underscores the meticulous planning behind the gang’s attempted crime.

The arrested adults are being held in police custody for further investigation, while the minors have been handed over to the juvenile home as per legal protocol. Police officials have confirmed that detailed interrogations are underway to uncover any other accomplices and prevent future crimes by the gang.

This incident reflects the persistent efforts of the Berhmapur Police in maintaining public safety and curbing organized criminal activities in the district. It also serves as a warning to those attempting to exploit vulnerable communities and reinforces the importance of community vigilance and timely reporting of suspicious activities.
