Balianta Soumya Ranjan lynching: All accused identified, informs Crime Branch DG

Odisha Crime Branch DG Vinaytosh Mishra on Monday informed that all the accused involved in the Balianta Soumya Ranjan Swain lynching case have been identified, while the investigation into the sensational case is continuing from all angles.
Speaking to mediapersons, Mishra said Crime Branch teams are carrying out raids and pursuing further investigation in connection with the case. So far, a total of 13 accused persons have been arrested by the police and Crime Branch.
Raids Continuing To Nab Remaining Accused
The Crime Branch DG further added that necessary action was also being taken accordingly.
“We have identified everyone involved and have arrested them. All our teams are actively investigating the matter,” Mishra said. He further stated that the agency is continuing its efforts to ensure justice for the family of Soumya.
“Investigation is being carried out from all angles to ensure justice for Soumya’s family,” he added.
Four Officials Suspended
Responding to questions regarding alleged police negligence in the case, Mishra said disciplinary proceedings are part of every department’s functioning.
“Four officials were suspended. Every job and department has a disciplinary action system. Commissionerate Police may also be examining the matter and will take action accordingly,” he said.
Investigation Underway
The Crime Branch DG said details related to the investigation cannot be disclosed at this stage as it could affect the probe.
“I cannot disclose further details regarding the investigation, as it may aid certain people. However, nobody found responsible will be spared,” Mishra said.

He also stated that he was unaware of the allegations made separately by family members in connection with the case.
