The body of a youth, who had gone missing in the Brahmani River, was recovered on Monday following an extensive search operation in Sundargarh district, Odisha. The incident occurred near the Bonai Nursery area, where two individuals were reportedly swept away by the river’s strong current.

According to reports, while one person was rescued in time, the second youth could not be located immediately despite rescue efforts. In response, fire services personnel launched a prolonged and intensive search operation that continued for several hours. Their efforts eventually led to the recovery of the missing youth’s body from the river, bringing a tragic closure to the incident.

The mishap has cast a pall of gloom over the local area, with relatives and residents expressing shock and grief at the untimely death. Authorities have urged people to exercise caution near riverbanks, especially during the monsoon season when currents are strong and unpredictable.

Tragically, this is not the first such incident in recent times. About a month ago, a youth lost his life while attempting to film a social media reel after jumping into the Salandi River in Bhadrak district. In that incident, two youths had jumped from Santia Bridge and were swept away, and the body of one of the missing individuals was recovered only after a prolonged search.
