A major historical discovery has come to light in Odisha, where an ancient Varaha idol from the Ganga period has been unearthed from beneath the soil.

The rare stone idol was reportedly discovered in Cuttack district’s Salepur area, believed to have been hidden centuries ago to protect it from invasions.

Heritage enthusiasts and local villagers played a key role in carefully excavating the idol after noticing parts of it emerging from the ground.

Experts believe the sculpture dates back to the Ganga dynasty era, making it a significant archaeological and cultural find for Odisha’s rich heritage.
