Employees at the Tangi block office in Odisha’s Cuttack district staged a peaceful protest on Monday in response to a recent confrontation between ABDO Saswat Jena and BJP leader Arindam Roy.

As part of the demonstration, the employees laid down their pens and gathered at the block office premises, expressing concern over the developments surrounding the incident.

Tensions at Tangi Block Office

The agitation follows last week’s incident at the Tangi block office, which had sparked political tension in the area. Reports suggest that the confrontation arose over allegations that BJP leaders were not being invited to panchayat meetings. The BJD lodged a complaint at the local police station in connection with the matter, though further details have not been officially disclosed.

Arindam Roy Responds

Reacting to the controversy on Sunday, BJP leader Arindam Roy clarified his position, stating that he was not angry during the incident. He said his response reflected the voice of BJP workers who had allegedly been suppressed for years.

“Unfortunately, no one is questioning how and why those people were allowed to participate in the Panchayat Samiti meeting, and instead, the blame is being shifted entirely onto me. It was not anger, but the voice of BJP workers who had been suppressed for years. The allegations of breaking the gate are completely false,” Roy said.
