Prahlad Bhuyan, a tribal youth from Nuagada village under Chelagada panchayat in Odisha’s Gajapati district, has secured a prestigious government position as an Assistant Executive Engineer, overcoming significant connectivity and infrastructural challenges during his studies.

Prahlad received his appointment letter from the Chief Minister during a recruitment fair organized at Kalinga Stadium, marking a proud moment for his village and the entire region.

Studied on a Hilltop to Access Internet

Belonging to R. Udayagiri block, Prahlad faced poor mobile network connectivity in his village. To continue his online education, he reportedly climbed a nearby hill every day—covering nearly 2 kilometres—to access the internet. Despite these challenges and financial constraints that prevented him from attending offline coaching classes, Prahlad remained determined.

He said, “Due to financial constraints, I could not attend offline coaching classes. There was no network connectivity in my village, so I used to travel nearly 2 km to a hilltop every morning and evening to study online. After returning home, I prepared notes. Eventually, I secured a post as an Assistant Executive Engineer.”

Prahlad’s journey from a remote tribal village to a professional career has drawn widespread appreciation from locals and well-wishers. Residents have hailed his perseverance and dedication as an inspiring example for the youth of the district.

His success not only highlights individual determination but also underscores the need for improved digital infrastructure in remote areas.
