Youth critical after stabbing at Aska bus stand; brother-in-law detained

A youth sustained critical injuries after allegedly being stabbed by his brother-in-law at the bus stand in Aska, Odisha on Saturday in a shocking incident suspected to be linked to an ongoing family dispute.

The injured youth has been identified as Kansa Dakua, a resident of Bakharakata village under Badagada police limits.

Heated Argument Turns Violent

According to sources, Kansa Dakua had gone to the Aska bus stand area when an argument reportedly broke out between him and his brother-in-law, Kuna Dakua.

The verbal altercation allegedly escalated within moments, following which the accused reportedly attacked Kansa Dakua with a knife in the crowded public area.

Sources said the youth sustained serious injuries in the attack and collapsed on the spot, triggering panic among commuters, roadside vendors and local residents present at the bus stand.

The sudden violence created chaos in the area as people rushed to rescue the injured youth while others informed police about the incident.

Injured Youth Shifted to Hospital

Following the attack, locals along with police personnel shifted the injured youth to Aska Medical for treatment.

Sources said he suffered critical injuries in the stabbing and is currently undergoing treatment under medical supervision. His condition is stated to be serious.

Police personnel remained deployed at the hospital, while officers also visited the spot to collect details related to the incident.

Family Dispute Suspected Behind Attack

Preliminary investigation suggests that the stabbing may have been triggered by an ongoing family dispute between the two.

Though the exact reason behind the altercation is yet to be officially confirmed, sources indicated that tension had reportedly been continuing within the family for some time.

Police are now trying to ascertain the circumstances that led to the violent confrontation at the busy public place.

Accused Detained, Probe Underway

Police have detained the accused, Kuna Dakua, in connection with the incident and have begun questioning him.

Officials are also recording statements of eyewitnesses and local residents who were present at the bus stand during the attack.

The incident has created concern in the locality as the stabbing took place at a crowded public place during daytime movement of passengers and commuters.
