Horror in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj: Woman’s semi-nude body found with hands tied

A gruesome murder of a young woman has sent shockwaves through Balia Pita village under the limits of Baisinga Police Station after her semi-nude body was recovered in a horrifying condition with her hands tied late on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Anita Singh. Police suspect that she was brutally strangulated to death by unidentified miscreants.

According to preliminary reports, locals spotted the woman’s body lying in a semi-nude condition with her hands tied and mouth bound, triggering panic and outrage across the village. The disturbing nature of the crime has left residents traumatised and raised serious concerns over women’s safety in the area.

Soon after receiving information, police personnel from Odisha Police reached the spot and launched an intensive investigation. Initial findings suggest that the victim may have been murdered with extreme brutality before her body was abandoned at the location. Though the exact motive behind the killing is yet to be established, investigators suspect strangulation to be the cause of death.

Police officials have begun collecting forensic evidence from the crime scene and are questioning villagers and possible suspects to trace those involved in the heinous act. No arrests have been made so far, but sources said several leads are being actively pursued.

The chilling incident has cast a pall of gloom over the village, with angry residents demanding immediate arrest of the culprits and strict punishment for those responsible. Community members have also urged the administration to strengthen security measures and ensure such barbaric incidents do not recur.

Officials assured that every possible effort is being made to crack the case at the earliest and bring the perpetrators to justice.
