Odisha Vigilance arrests LAMPCS managing director in alleged Rs 75 lakh embezzlement case

Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested the managing director of a Large Area Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society (LAMPCS) in Rayagada district for allegedly embezzling Rs 75 lakh from the institution’s funds. The arrest was made following an investigation into financial irregularities spanning two years.
The accused, Tarini Prasad Tripathy, Managing Director of K. Singhpur LAMPCS, was arrested after a detailed verification of records allegedly revealed large-scale manipulation of official documents and misappropriation of society funds.
Sources said the amount involved comprised savings and deposits belonging to primary members of the co-operative society.
Alleged Fraud Unearthed During Verification
According to Odisha Vigilance, documentary verification established that the alleged fraud took place between 2024 and 2026.
Investigators found that Tripathy allegedly carried out the embezzlement by systematically manipulating official records of the co-operative society. The inquiry further indicated that the misappropriated amount totalled Rs 75 lakh.
Officials stated that the funds allegedly diverted represented direct savings and deposits of primary members of the society, affecting stakeholders who depend on the institution for financial security and savings-related services.
Case Registered Under PC Act And BNS
A case was registered against Tripathy under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Following his arrest, the accused was forwarded to the court, reportedly.

Odisha Vigilance described the action as part of its ongoing efforts to address financial irregularities in co-operative institutions and ensure accountability in the management of public and member-owned funds.
Officials said the investigation is continuing to ascertain the full extent of the alleged irregularities and examine all related financial transactions.
