Ranveer Singh faces ‘non-cooperation’ after Don 3 fallout; FWICE clarifies, ‘It’s not a ban’

The controversy around Ranveer Singh and his abrupt exit from Don 3 refuses to die down, even as the actor enjoys the success wave of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge. Amid growing reports suggesting that the actor has been “banned” by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), the organisation’s chief advisor Ashoke Pandit has now stepped in to clarify the federation’s actual position.

‘FWICE is not court, we can’t ban people’
During an interaction with ETimes, Ashoke Pandit dismissed the use of the word “ban” and explained that FWICE has only announced a “non-cooperation” directive against the actor.
He said, “See, first of all, the entire conversation has become wrong. It’s not a ban. See, we are not court; we can’t ban people, yaar. So we have issued a non-cooperation. Non-cooperation means all our members who belong to 30 crafts, you know, they will not work with him. It’s my choice whether I want to work with him or not. So we, as a trade union, have issued this thing to our members that as far as wherever he is there, you will not work till the time. This issue is not sorted out. Because we very strongly feel that this is a very wrong trend which will start.”
According to Ashoke, the concern goes beyond a single film. He believes actors walking out of projects midway can severely damage producers financially, especially smaller banners that may not possess the resources of production giants like Excel Entertainment.
He warned that such losses could become devastating for producers, adding, “They will commit suicide.”
FWICE Claims Ranveer Ignored Repeated Invitations
Ashoke further revealed that FWICE attempted to settle the matter peacefully by inviting Ranveer Singh for discussions along with producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
‘Sent 3 invitations to Ranveer’
He stated that the federation had sent three separate invitations to the actor, requesting him to attend meetings and resolve the issue amicably. However, according to Ashoke, there was no response from Ranveer until reports emerged about FWICE preparing for a press conference.
After hearing about the media briefing, Ranveer allegedly sent an email to the federation claiming that “this doesn’t come under a jurisdiction.”
Compensation Talks May Still Happen
Despite the ongoing dispute, Ashoke admitted that the matter remains unresolved and stressed that discussions between the actor, producers, and FWICE are still necessary.
He acknowledged that there is currently “no closure in the matter” and hinted that negotiations over the reported compensation demand could still take place.
Reports suggest that Farhan Akhtar is seeking nearly ₹45 crore in damages following Ranveer’s exit from the film.
Speaking about the possibility of a settlement, Ashoke said, “If you say it’s not 45 (crore), we say 30 (crore) or whatever.”
‘The word ban not used in press conference’
Ashoke also clarified that FWICE deliberately avoided using the word “ban” during Monday’s press conference. He maintained that the issue should not be sensationalised, calling it a “serious matter” linked to “the industry’s survival.”
While the Don 3 controversy continues to unfold, the debate has now shifted from an alleged ban to broader concerns about accountability, producer losses, and professional commitments within the film industry.
