From geologist to OCS 2024 exam topper: Keonjhar’s Bubun Sahu scripts success story

Hard work, determination, and an unwavering dream to serve society have helped Bubun Sahu from Keonjhar district emerge as the topper in the Odisha Civil Services Examination 2024. Hailing from Tolankapada village in Anandapur, Bubun has secured Rank 1 in Odisha, bringing immense pride to his family and the entire district.

Earlier, Bubun worked as a geologist in Dehradun with ONGC. Despite having a stable career, he remained committed to his dream of serving Odisha and its people through the civil services.

From Rank 40 To State Topper

Bubun’s journey reflects persistence and constant self-improvement. Last year, he had secured Rank 40 in the OAS examination and later joined as a DSP officer. While undergoing training, he continued his preparation with dedication and determination. His relentless hard work finally paid off this year as he secured the top position in the state.

Expressing his happiness, Bubun’s father, Bagawan Sahu, said the family is overwhelmed with pride after hearing the results.

“Last year my son secured Rank 40, and this year he has achieved Rank 1 in OPSC OCS 2024. Despite doing a job, he continued preparing for OAS. Today, seeing him become the topper fills our hearts with happiness,” he said.

Dream To Serve Odisha

Bubun’s wife, Bijayani Sahu, said he always wanted to work for the people of Odisha at the grassroots level.

“He was working as a geologist in Dehradun, but his dream was always to serve Odisha. Even during his DSP training, he worked extremely hard and finally secured Rank 1,” she said.

Bubun’s inspiring success story has now become a source of motivation for thousands of civil service aspirants across the state.
