Robbers strike multiple homes in Puri village, gold, cash and valuables looted

A series of robberies  was reported from Alisha village under Satyabadi area in Odisha’s Puri district late on Saturday night, with miscreants allegedly targeting at least five houses in the area. 

According to reports, the robbers broke open doors and locks before carrying out thefts worth lakhs of rupees from multiple homes.

The affected houses belonged to Basudev Mallick, Krishna Chandra Mallick, Nirupama Mallick, Damburu Mallick and Bijay Biswal. Satyabadi police reached the village after receiving information about the incident and launched an investigation into the suspected burglary spree.

Gold, Cash And Utensils Stolen

Reports said the robbers managed to steal gold ornaments, cash and utensils from some of the targeted houses. Gold jewellery purchased by Nirupama Mallik for her daughter’s wedding was also allegedly taken away during the robbery.

The burglars were reportedly successful in looting the houses of Basudev Mallik, Krishna Chandra Mallik and Nirupama Mallik. However, they could not carry out thefts at the houses of Damburu Mallik and Bijay Biswal, allegedly after barking dogs alerted local residents.

Police Launch Investigation

Locals suspect the robberies may have been pre-planned due to the manner in which multiple houses were targeted in a single night. Police have started a detailed investigation into the incident.

Officials said scientific teams and sniffer dog squads would also be deployed as part of the probe to gather further evidence and identify those involved in the alleged robberies.
