Monkeys Stop Bus Amid Scorching Heat
A heartwarming video showing bus passengers offering water to thirsty monkeys during an intense heatwave in Maharashtra has gone viral on social media. The incident has highlighted the severe impact of extreme summer temperatures on wildlife living in forest and ghat regions.
The incident reportedly took place on the afternoon of May 21 at Khandala Ghat. An MSRTC bus travelling on the Washim-Pusad route had just entered the ghat section when an unexpected scene unfolded on the road ahead.
Monkey Refuses to Move From the Road!
According to reports, a monkey suddenly appeared in front of the bus and stood firmly in its path, forcing the vehicle to stop briefly. Initially, passengers and the driver tried to shoo the animal away, but it refused to move.
Soon, those on board realised that the monkey appeared exhausted and dehydrated because of the scorching heat. Passengers then offered the animal water from a bottle, which it immediately began drinking.
More Monkeys Gather Around the Bus
As the monkey drank water, several other monkeys reportedly emerged from the nearby forest area. The animals appeared visibly thirsty and slowly gathered around the stationary bus. Moved by the sight, passengers began sharing water from their own bottles with the monkeys.

The emotional moment was captured on a mobile phone by passenger Lata Shrivas, and the video has since spread widely across social media platforms.
Questions Raised Over Water Availability for Wildlife
While the incident has touched many hearts online, it has also raised concerns regarding the availability of drinking water for wild animals during peak summer months. Reports suggest that although the Forest Department has maintained that water arrangements are made for wildlife at multiple locations, the viral video has prompted fresh questions about how effective these measures are on the ground, especially in forest corridors and ghat regions during severe heatwave conditions.
Several locals and social media users have urged authorities to increase monitoring of water sources and ensure adequate arrangements for animals during extreme weather.
A Small Act of Kindness Can Save Lives
As temperatures continue to soar across the country, incidents like these serve as a reminder that animals and birds suffer silently during heatwaves. Stray animals, in particular, have no shelter, no assured food, and often no access to drinking water.

In times like these, even a small bowl of water or some food kept outside homes and shops can become a life-saving gesture. Compassion towards animals is not just kindness — it is a responsibility humans must remember during every season of crisis.
