Failure never stopped him: Odisha fisherman’s son secures Rank 56 in OPSC OCS Exam 2024

Success never comes overnight. It demands years of sacrifice, relentless hard work, and the courage to rise after repeated failures. Proving this true, Kahnu Charan Behera, the son of a fisherman from Sorada in Odisha’s Ganjam district, has scripted an inspiring success story by securing Rank 56 in the Odisha Civil Services (OAS) Examination 2024 conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).

Hailing from Keutasahi village, Kahnu’s achievement has become a moment of pride not only for his family but also for the entire region. His father, Kalia Charan Behera, earns a living by catching fish and struggled hard to support the family and his son’s education.

Failed Three Times, Cleared In Fourth Attempt

Kahnu’s journey to success was far from easy. He had earlier failed the OAS examination three consecutive times. However, instead of giving up, he continued his preparation with determination and discipline.

Speaking about his journey, Kahnu said that life was difficult due to the family’s traditional occupation, but perseverance kept him moving forward.

“This was my fourth attempt. I failed in my first three attempts, but I never lost hope. Hard work and persistence brought me here. I also chose teaching to stay connected with studies. Education teaches discipline and helps people lead a successful life,” he said.

Kahnu added that he especially enjoys teaching children and wants to continue contributing to the education sector.

Father’s Pride, Village’s Celebration

Kahnu’s father expressed immense happiness after hearing the results. He said the family had not expected the results to be announced so suddenly, making the moment even more emotional.

“After years of consistent hard work, my son achieved this rank. I always believed he would succeed in life and secure a respectable position,” said Kalia Charan Behera with pride.

Kahnu’s success story is now inspiring thousands of civil service aspirants across Odisha to never give up on their dreams.
