The makers of Maa Behen have finally unveiled the trailer of the upcoming Netflix film, and it promises a wildly entertaining blend of dark humour, family drama and crime. Starring Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri and social media creator Dharna Durga, the film takes viewers into a bizarre night gone terribly wrong. Directed by Suresh Triveni, the movie also features Ravi Kishan in a key role.

A Dysfunctional Family Spirals Into Trouble

The trailer opens on a tense note as Rekha, played by Madhuri Dixit, lashes out at her daughter Jaya (Triptii Dimri) for selling her jewellery. But the confrontation quickly escalates when Sushma, portrayed by Dharna Durga, points out that the family’s real problems began because of Rekha herself.

Soon after, Jaya is seen calling out her widowed mother for continuing to flirt years after her husband’s death. The tension is further fuelled by the arrival of neighbour Gupta Ji, played by Ravi Kishan, whose playful chemistry with Rekha adds to the film’s quirky tone. But things take an unexpected turn when Gupta Ji suddenly dies inside Rekha’s house.

One Dead Body, Three Women and Endless Panic

The trailer then transforms into a frantic dark comedy. Rekha urgently calls her daughters in the middle of the night, asking them to help dispose of the body and hide what appears to be a “bhayankar kand”. As panic spreads, the three women struggle to stay calm while dealing with suspicious neighbours, constant arguments and mounting pressure.

The confusion intensifies when Gupta Ji’s wife, played by Geetanjali Kulkarni, begins searching for her missing husband. Adding to the chaos, a determined police officer played by Arunoday Singh starts investigating the disappearance, leaving the women scrambling to protect their secret.

Madhuri Dixit on Playing an Unconventional Mother

Speaking about her role, Madhuri Dixit shared, “Rekha is not your typical Hindi cinema mother, and that’s exactly what made the character so exciting for me. As an actor, it’s incredibly rewarding to explore layered, unpredictable roles that challenge the audience’s expectations. Rekha may not be a perfect mother, but like any mother, she wants the best for her daughters and tries to hold her family together amidst all the chaos.”

What Triptii Dimri Says

Triptii Dimri also opened up about her character and experience working alongside the veteran actor.

She said, “Jaya is the ghar ki sushil beti (responsible and well-mannered), but she also has a strong sense of right and wrong. She’s constantly trying to manage the chaos around her, only to get pulled deeper into it. The dynamic between the two sisters, with all the banter and madness, was one of my favourite parts. Sharing screen space with the legendary Madhuri Dixit, someone who made an entire generation fall in love with cinema is truly surreal. For me, this feels like a homecoming.”

Netflix Release Date Announced

Backed by Abundantia Entertainment in association with Opening Image Films, Maa Behen is being positioned as an unusual mix of crime thriller and family comedy. The film is set to premiere on Netflix on June 4.
