Tatkal ticket booking rules: West Central Railway introduces token system at Kota Division stations

To improve transparency and reduce rush during Tatkal bookings, the Kota Division of West Central Railway has implemented a token system at all stations under its jurisdiction. The new arrangement is aimed at ensuring better queue management and a hassle-free reservation process for passengers.
The railway division stated that passengers booking Tatkal tickets for Air-Conditioned (AC) classes will be issued tokens between 9:00 AM and 9:25 AM. For Sleeper class bookings, token distribution will take place from 9:30 AM to 9:55 AM. Officials have requested passengers to arrive at reservation counters on time and cooperate with railway staff for the smooth implementation of the system.
Tatkal booking schedule
Under existing Indian Railways rules, Tatkal reservation for AC classes begins at 10:00 AM, while bookings for non-AC categories start at 11:00 AM, one day prior to the date of journey. In addition to PRS counters, passengers can also reserve Tatkal tickets online through the IRCTC website and mobile application using Aadhaar-authenticated accounts.
The Kota Division, established on April 1, 1952, is considered one of the major divisions on the western railway route. Its network mainly covers Rajasthan, with certain sections extending into Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Reservation chart timing
Indian Railways has also reiterated its guidelines regarding reservation chart preparation. For trains departing between 5:01 AM and 2:00 PM, the first reservation chart is generally prepared by 8:00 PM on the previous day.
For trains scheduled between 2:01 PM and midnight, as well as those leaving between midnight and 5:00 AM, the first chart is usually prepared at least 10 hours before departure.
