A dramatic confrontation was reported at Gate Bazar Square in Berhampur, Odisha, where a woman allegedly created a disturbance on Friday, blocking a traffic police vehicle and engaging in heated arguments with personnel on duty.

According to reports, the woman obstructed traffic and stopped a police vehicle in the busy area, leading to a tense situation. She reportedly engaged in verbal altercation with the police personnel for nearly half an hour, causing inconvenience and panic among commuters.

Traffic Disruption at Busy Junction

The incident led to a major traffic jam at Gate Bazar Square, one of the busiest intersections in the city. Eyewitnesses said the woman stood in front of the traffic police vehicle, preventing movement and alleging arbitrary enforcement of rules. This led to a complete disruption of vehicular flow in the area.

The situation escalated further when she allegedly used abusive language against police personnel. During the chaos, it is also reported that a woman constable was physically assaulted.

Police Intervention and Detention

Later, women police personnel arrived at the spot and attempted to pacify the situation. However, the woman reportedly continued her aggressive behaviour and resisted removal. She was eventually detained and taken to Town Police Station by force.

Police officials have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident. Further investigation is expected into the circumstances leading to the confrontation and alleged assault on police personnel.
