A Plus III Commerce second-year student was found hanging inside the toilet of his house under mysterious circumstances in Bhadrak town of Odisha on Thursday, triggering shock and tension in the locality. The incident was reported from Charampa Bazar area under Bhadrak Town police limits.

According to the student’s father, the youth had gone for a morning walk and returned home as usual. After returning, he reportedly spent some time talking with his father and other family members inside the house.

However, a few moments later, the family realised that he was nowhere to be found. Concerned over his sudden disappearance, family members started searching for him inside and around the house.

During the search, the student was allegedly found hanging inside the bathroom with the help of a towel.

Family alleges foul play

The deceased was a second-year Commerce student pursuing Plus III studies.

Family members alleged that the circumstances surrounding the death appeared highly suspicious. According to them, the student’s hands were tied from behind and a piece of cloth had also been tied around his mouth.

The family alleged that the youth may have been murdered before being hanged inside the bathroom and demanded a proper investigation into the incident.

News of the incident soon spread across the area, following which a large number of locals gathered near the house. The incident left residents shocked, with many demanding that police thoroughly probe the matter.

Police launch probe

After receiving information, Bhadrak Town police reached the spot and recovered the body for investigation.

Police have started examining all possible angles, including the allegations levelled by the family members. Scientific team members and police officials are also expected to inspect the scene as part of the investigation process.

The body is likely to be sent for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and ascertain whether any foul play was involved.
