New Release Date Still Under Wraps
After shelving its March 19 release to avoid a box-office clash with Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the makers later shifted the film to June 4. But recent buzz suggests the movie may now arrive on a later date altogether. Reports indicate the film is being planned as a multilingual release in English, Kannada and several Indian languages.
Yash Opens Up About What Drew Him To Toxic
In a conversation with Variety, Yash reflected on why the project immediately appealed to him and what makes it different from a conventional commercial entertainer. According to the actor, he had been looking for a grand cinematic idea when Geethu Mohandas approached him with the concept.
Explaining the emotional and thematic depth of the story, he said, “On the face of it, it might look like a gangster film with all the commercial things, but it’s so nuanced because there is so much of moral ambiguity or raw emotions or dark side of human or certain topics which as an artist or at this point in my life, I would like to explore those kind of things on celluloid.”
Yash Teases Strong Female Characters
Apart from Yash, the film also features British theatre actor Darrell D’Silva in pivotal roles. The actor stressed that the women in the film are not merely ornamental characters but individuals written with depth, strength and layered personalities.
Speaking about their roles, Yash shared, “We have some female characters who are really badass women who have taken responsibility about their lives and who survive in any situations.”
Meanwhile, during her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, Tara Sutaria hinted to The Hollywood Reporter India that the film may even feature a stylish slow-motion sequence bringing together all the leading women — something she compared to an ‘Avengers’-style moment.
