A petrol pump manager was allegedly attacked by a vehicle owner after being denied the required quantity of fuel at the Deogaon petrol pump in Rourkela, police reported on Wednesday.

According to sources, the incident occurred when the vehicle owner, reportedly enraged over not receiving the amount of petrol he demanded, engaged in a heated argument with petrol pump employees. Witnesses stated that the accused, later identified as Sehanwaz Hussain, allegedly abused and threatened the staff in front of customers, creating a tense and chaotic atmosphere at the station.

In an effort to calm the situation and resolve the dispute, the petrol pump manager approached the scene. However, Hussain allegedly assaulted the manager using a high-voltage electronic device, leaving him unconscious. The sudden attack caused panic among both employees and customers present at the petrol station, prompting locals to immediately alert the police.

Following a formal complaint, the Raghunathpali Police Station launched an investigation and arrested the accused from the Rajamunda area. Authorities also seized a Hyundai Creta and the electronic device allegedly used in the assault.

Police officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances and motives behind the attack. The incident has raised concerns over the safety of petrol pump employees and the need for stricter measures to prevent such violent confrontations at public service outlets.
