Success rarely comes without struggle, and the story of Pushpalata S from a quiet village in Balasore’s Nilagiri is a shining testament to perseverance and hard work. Despite facing immense challenges, Pushpalata has achieved what many would find unimaginable.

Unable to study for long hours, she wakes up early to take the family’s goats for grazing, attends school where she also works as a cook, and helps her mother run the household. Having lost her father at a young age, Pushpalata carried not only her own dreams but also the hope of fulfilling her late father’s aspirations.

Her efforts have borne remarkable results: she scored 543 out of 600 in the CHSE Plus 2 Board Examination, emerging as the topper of Nilagiri.

“I can’t study for six hours, so I studied for three, but I never lost belief. Credit goes to my teacher, who had faith in me. With strong willpower, you can achieve everything,” said Pushpalata.

Her mother added, “She wakes up early, tends the goats, goes to school, cooks, and attends tuition. We live under difficult conditions. Financial aid from the government would be helpful.”

Her teacher remarked, “It pains me to see their living conditions, but I will support her for her Plus 3 and beyond. A girl who lost her father has become Nilagiri’s topper.”
