CHSE blunder! Ravenshaw student scores 102 out of 100 in Plus II Exam

A major discrepancy in the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) examination results came to light on Friday after a student of Ravenshaw Higher Secondary School in Cuttack was allegedly awarded 102 marks in a paper that carries a maximum of 100 marks.

The incident has triggered widespread discussion among students, parents, and education experts over the accuracy and credibility of the evaluation and result-processing system.

The error was reportedly found in the Science stream Plus 2 results of a student from a reputed higher secondary institution. According to the marksheet, the student secured 82 marks in the English theory examination and was awarded an additional 20 marks in the practical examination, bringing the total score to 102 out of 100.

The unusual result quickly drew attention after screenshots of the marksheet began circulating among students and on various social media platforms. Many questioned how such a glaring error could have gone unnoticed through multiple stages of scrutiny before the official publication of results.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns about the digital processing, evaluation, and verification systems used by CHSE during the preparation and declaration of examination results.

Students and guardians have expressed apprehension that if marks can exceed the prescribed maximum limit, similar errors could also adversely affect deserving candidates through incorrect calculations, data entry mistakes, or system glitches.

Educationists and members of the academic community believe that such incidents can significantly damage the credibility of the examination authority and create unnecessary confusion during college admissions, merit listing, and selection processes.

Several students have reportedly urged CHSE to immediately review and strengthen its evaluation and data management systems to prevent such irregularities in the future and ensure greater accuracy in result publication.

So far, the CHSE authorities have not issued any official clarification on the matter. However, the incident has intensified calls for stricter verification mechanisms as well as more transparent and accountable result-processing procedures.

The controversy has emerged at a crucial time when thousands of students across Odisha are applying for higher education courses based on their Plus 2 scores. Any discrepancy in marks has the potential to directly impact admission opportunities as well as student confidence in the examination system.
