A joint team of police and mining officials carried out a raid on an alleged illegal stone quarry in the Jamuna Jharpada area under Delang block of Pipili in Odisha‘s Puri district late on Tuesday night. 

The operation was conducted while stone cutting activities were reportedly underway at the site.

During the surprise crackdown, authorities seized multiple vehicles and machinery allegedly being used for quarrying operations. Officials said further investigation into the incident is in progress.

Machinery and Vehicles Seized

As part of the raid, officials confiscated three cutter machines, two Hyvas, one JCB and one tractor from the quarry site. The action was taken during a late-night operation targeting alleged unauthorised stone extraction activities in the area.

Authorities, however, have not yet released details regarding the ownership of the seized equipment or the persons involved in the operation.

Investigation Underway

The raid was jointly conducted by the local police and mining department officials as part of ongoing efforts to check illegal mining activities.

Officials stated that further inquiry is being carried out following the seizure, and additional action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
