However, a shocking incident that reportedly took place in Mexico left many lovebirds stunned and sparked conversations worldwide about unexpected health risks linked to intense suction on the neck.

According to several international media reports, 17-year-old Julio Macias Gonzalez from Mexico City allegedly died after receiving a love bite from his girlfriend. The unusual case first gained global attention in 2016 and continues to resurface online as one of the most bizarre intimacy-related medical incidents ever reported.

The Incident That Shocked The Internet

Reports claimed that Julio had spent time with his girlfriend before suddenly suffering convulsions while having dinner with his family. Paramedics were reportedly called immediately, but the teenager could not be saved.

Medical experts allegedly believed that the suction from the hickey may have caused a blood clot, which later travelled to his brain and triggered a fatal stroke.

The story quickly went viral across global media platforms because of the rare and frightening nature of the incident. 

Can A Hickey Really Be Dangerous?

Health experts say such incidents are extremely uncommon. However, medical literature has documented a few rare cases where aggressive suction near the neck may injure blood vessels or arteries, potentially contributing to clot formation.

Doctors quoted in several reports stressed that ordinary hickeys are generally harmless, though excessive pressure on sensitive areas should be avoided.
