‘Will focus on women empowerment, eradicate drug abuse & crimes’: OPSC Rank 20 holder Swagatika Dhal

Success built on years of discipline, determination and focused preparation has brought Odisha’s Swagatika Dhal into the spotlight after she secured an impressive Rank-20 in the recently announced OPSC OCS (Odisha Civil Services) 2024 examination.

For Swagatika, the achievement is not just a number but the result of consistent hard work and a clear vision despite challenges along the way.

Journey Of Determination And Academic Excellence

Swagatika described her success as the outcome of focused preparation over the past years, during which she dedicated herself entirely to cracking the OPSC examination. She expressed happiness over securing Rank 20, stating that while she had expected a good result, the outcome exceeded her expectations.

She completed her schooling at DAV Unit 8 up to Plus II, followed by a B.Sc B.Ed from the Regional Institute of Education (RIE) in Bhubaneswar. She later pursued her postgraduate degree in Chemistry from Miranda House, New Delhi. Throughout her academic journey, she said she received strong encouragement from her family, relatives, friends and neighbours, who stood by her during her preparation phase.

Swagatika shared that her family was extremely happy after her result, as they had been waiting for her success for a long time. She also expressed hope of joining a suitable government service and contributing meaningfully in her chosen field.

“My rank is 20. My hard work paid off. I worked for this last year. This year, I’ve definitely focused only on OPSC, and I’m very happy to have achieved this rank. I was expecting a good rank, but not this good. I’m very happy that I’ve gotten a rank. My family is very happy,” she added.

Interview Experience And Aspirations For Public Service

Recalling her interview, Swagatika said she was first asked about her hobbies and favourite recipes, followed by several situational and subject-based questions. These included topics like women’s empowerment, Mission Shakti, and core chemistry-related questions.

One notable scenario involved her being asked how she would handle drug abuse cases as a video creator. She explained a structured approach involving identification of hotspots, monitoring of vulnerable areas like colleges and universities, coordination with police, and rehabilitation efforts for addicts.

Swagatika Dhal’s journey to OPSC Rank 20 highlights the power of dedication, structured preparation and strong family support, setting an inspiring example for aspirants across Odisha.
