A vehicle belonging to the Banki Sub-Collector’s Office met with an accident near Bhagipur in Odisha’s Cuttack district during the early hours of Wednesday, officials said.

According to reports, the Bolero vehicle lost control while travelling from Banki towards Cuttack and crashed into a roadside tree near Bhagipur.

The impact of the collision was reportedly severe, causing the tree to collapse onto a parked Luna and scooter nearby, damaging both vehicles.

Driver Was Alone in the Vehicle

Sources said the accident occurred during the early morning hours. Although the vehicle belonged to the Sub-Collector’s office, no government official was travelling in it at the time of the incident.

Only the driver was reportedly inside the vehicle when the mishap took place.

Fortunately, the driver escaped unhurt and no casualties were reported in the accident.

Locals Alert Police After Hearing Loud Noise

Local residents rushed to the spot after hearing a loud sound following the collision. Police were subsequently informed about the incident.

The damaged official vehicle was later removed from the roadside to restore normal traffic movement in the area.

Police Begin Investigation

Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.

Preliminary reports suggest that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle, leading to the crash. However, officials said the exact circumstances behind the incident would be known only after completion of the inquiry.
