BJD exodus buzz grows: More Rajya Sabha MPs may join BJP soon after Debashish Samantaray

Political speculation is intensifying around the future of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) as reports suggest that more Rajya Sabha MPs in Odisha may leave the party following the departure of Debashish Samantaray.
Several BJP leaders have claimed that additional exits from the regional party could be on the horizon.
According to political discussions doing the rounds, one or two MPs from coastal Odisha are reportedly in contact with the BJP. Sources indicate that a major political development could emerge within the next 5-7 days, with BJP leaders claiming that discussions have reached the final stage.
The political focus has now shifted to a key question – who could be the next leader to exit after Debashish Samantaray?
Shedding more light on the matter, Jajpur MP Rabindra Behera said, “Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many people are showing interest in joining the BJP with the aim of contributing to the vision of a Viksit Bharat. The BJD appears to be facing internal challenges, with concerns being raised about a lack of internal democracy and insufficient respect for political leaders within the party. As a result, several BJD leaders are reportedly becoming dissatisfied and joining the BJP one after another. Some other Rajya Sabha leaders are in contact with the BJP. These leaders are not changing parties for personal gain, but are instead inspired by a broader vision for the nation and a sense of patriotism. BJD is going to be history soon.”

“Some MPs from the coastal region and other parts of the state are reportedly in contact with the BJP and may join the party in the coming days. They are influenced by the BJP’s ideology and nationalist vision. Sources suggest that several leaders felt sidelined and constrained within the BJD and are now looking for greater political freedom and opportunities. Some BJD leaders are in touch with BJP leadership at both the state and national levels. An MP from the coastal region is likely to join the BJP soon. BJP has not targeted or pressurised anyone to switch sides. Leaders are being naturally drawn toward the party due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and vision,” he added.
With speculation continuing to gain momentum, all eyes are now on possible political developments in Odisha over the coming week.
