In yet another police encounter in Odisha’s Sambalpur district, another notorious criminal was injured after being shot during an operation conducted by police in the Mochibahal area under Charmal Police Station limits on Tuesday.

The dreaded criminal has been identified as Bunty Suna.

According to reports, police intercepted Suna during an operation in the area, following which an encounter took place. During the exchange, Suna sustained a bullet injury to his left leg. He was immediately rescued and shifted to Burla Hospital for treatment.

Police sources said Suna was allegedly involved in several criminal activities, including illegal possession of arms and ganja trafficking. He reportedly has around 16 criminal cases registered against him across Sambalpur and Bolangir districts.

The latest encounter comes just a day after another police operation in Sambalpur in which dreaded criminal Manish Sahu was injured in police firing at Burla.

Manish reportedly had more than 14 criminal cases against him, including charges related to dacoity, robbery, violations under the Arms Act, and illegal Corex trade.

During that operation, police had seized a pistol, live ammunition, Corex bottles, and a vehicle from the spot.

The back-to-back encounters indicate intensified action by police against criminal activities in the region. Further investigation into the latest incident is underway.
