Head-on collision between truck and bus on NH-16 in Ganjam triggers traffic jam, all passengers safe

A truck and a bus collided head-on on the Huma overbridge along NH-16 under Rambha police station limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district early on Sunday morning.
Despite the impact of the collision, all passengers on board the bus escaped safely, according to reports.
Officials said there were around five to six passengers travelling in the bus at the time of the accident. As the bus was carrying only a few passengers during the morning hours, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. However, the front portion of the truck was severely damaged and completely crushed in the collision.
Traffic Disrupted After Accident
The accident caused traffic congestion on the stretch for some time as vehicles were moving through a one-way route due to the ongoing overbridge construction work. Following the incident, Huma police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the matter.
According to local residents, one side of the road has remained closed for several years because of the overbridge construction work, forcing vehicles from both directions to use a single carriageway.
Locals Raise Concerns Over Delayed Construction
Residents alleged that similar accidents have occurred multiple times in the area in the past. They claimed that the overbridge construction has been underway for nearly five years, leading to repeated traffic issues and accidents on the route.

Locals have also questioned why the overbridge project is still incomplete despite construction continuing for several years.
