A shocking incident unfolded in Ambika Nagar in Berhampur when a youth identified as Jaga Sahu was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon. The attack, reportedly captured on video, went viral within five hours, triggering widespread outrage across social media, officials said on Monday.

Acting swiftly, the police launched a pursuit operation against the accused. During an attempted encounter, when the accused reportedly tried to escape and allegedly tried to hurl a bomb, the police opened fire. 

Jaga Sahu was shot in both legs in the exchange of gunfire. He has been admitted to MKCG Medical College in a serious condition for treatment.

According to authorities, the accused had fled the scene immediately after the attack the previous day. Police said the prompt action helped prevent further escalation of the incident. The police encounter is currently being investigated, and the department has urged the public to remain calm and avoid sharing unverified content about the case.
