SAMS Odisha opens online UG applications for 2.76 lakh degree seats, check details

Higher Education Department has commenced the Phase-1 e-admission process for undergraduate (UG) courses via the Students Academic Management System (SAMS)

Aiming to ensure the timely completion of degree courses so students can effectively prepare for competitive examinations, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj announced that the 2026-27 academic session will begin early on July 9, a significant shift from the pre-2025 tradition of starting in August.

Phase-1 Admission

Online submission for Common Application Forms (CAFs) on the SAMS portal (www.samsodisha.gov.in) opened on Wednesday and will close on June 10. The Phase-1 process will be executed across three distinct rounds:

Round One: The initial merit list drops on June 17, with enrollment scheduled between June 18 and 20.

Round Two: The second list will be published on June 29, followed by admissions from June 30 to July 4.

Round Three: Following the term’s commencement, a final round for spot and waiting-list applicants takes place on July 17.

Seat Metrics & Phase-2 Strategy

While total seat capacity stands at 2.76 lakh across 1,050 institutions, admissions at nine self-financing and unaided degree colleges are prohibited due to the withdrawal of their recognition.

Subsequently, Phase-2 admissions will cater strictly to left-out students who failed to secure seats during Phase-1. This second phase will launch after the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) conducts its Class XII instant examinations in July and publishes the results, a process that traditionally requires roughly 60 days.
