In a significant crackdown against corruption, the Bhubaneswar vigilance team on Wednesday arrested the Bhawanipatna R&B Executive Engineer for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets. Preliminary investigations revealed that the Engineer owned 97 plots of land spread across 83 acres, raising serious concerns about the source of his wealth and misuse of official powers.

The probe indicated that the officer’s property holdings far exceeded his declared income, suggesting a pattern of financial irregularities. Vigilance authorities subsequently seized multiple luxury properties, including five residential buildings, four of which are multi-storey houses. In addition, the officer possessed two expansive farmhouses covering 17 acres and eight commercial cabins in a prominent market complex, all of which have been attached by the vigilance team pending further investigation.

Officials stated that further inquiries are ongoing to uncover any additional undisclosed assets, emphasizing the rigorous steps being taken to maintain transparency and accountability within government services.

The case has sent shockwaves across administrative circles, underlining the State government’s zero-tolerance approach to corruption. Vigilance authorities stressed that decisive actions such as these are vital to uphold integrity, deter misuse of office, and strengthen public trust in governmental institutions.
