9-year-old injured while trying to escape attack by pack of dogs in Odisha’s Ganjam

A nine-year-old boy was admitted to hospital after reportedly trying to fight off a group of dogs that surrounded him while he was playing outside his home in Mahanala village under Patapur police station limits in Ganjam district on Friday.

The child, identified as Arish Kumar, sustained serious injuries during the incident, which occurred in the courtyard of his residence. ‘

According to family members, more than five dogs reportedly surrounded the boy while he was playing, following which he attempted to fend them off.

Child Shifted To MKCG Medical College

The incident resulted in injuries to the minor, including a scalp injury. Family members and local residents rushed him for medical treatment immediately after the incident.

Arish was initially admitted to Digapahandi hospital for treatment. Considering the nature of his injuries, doctors later referred him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, for advanced medical care.

Residents said the child was playing near his house when the incident took place.

Local people gathered at the spot after learning about the incident and assisted in shifting the injured boy to hospital.

The incident has drawn attention in the village, with residents expressing concern over the safety of children playing outdoors.
