Kalbaisakhi brings relief from heatwave conditions across Odisha

Odisha witnessed relief from prevailing heatwave conditions under the impact of Kalbaisakhi thunderstorms. Several parts of the state received rainfall accompanied by strong winds and lightning activity.

Cloudy weather conditions prevailed in Bhubaneswar on Thursday morning, bringing a noticeable dip in temperature after days of intense heat.

Thunderstorm Activity Hits Twin Cities

On Wednesday evening, Kalbaisakhi-triggered thunderstorms and rainfall affected the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The sky suddenly turned overcast during the evening hours, following which strong winds and rain lashed several localities.

Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning was also reported from a few areas, causing brief disruptions in normal movement. The Kalbaisakhi rain caused extensive damage in several areas as well.

The change in weather brought temporary relief to residents experiencing high daytime temperature and humid conditions over the past several days.

Orange And Yellow Warnings Issued

The weather department indicated that similar weather conditions are likely to continue in several districts of Odisha on Thursday as well.

In view of possible thunderstorm and lightning activity, an Orange Warning was issued for eight districts, while 16 districts have been placed under Yellow Warning.
