Under-construction wall collapse in Odisha’s Rayagada injures 17; five including two minors critical

An unfortunate accident occurred under the jurisdiction of Kalyansinghpur police station in Rayagada district on Tuesday, when a under-constructed wall collapsed during house construction. The incident left 17 labourers injured, including 15 women and two minor girls. Five of the injured are in serious condition.
According to reports, a construction work was underway at a businessman’s house on the main road of Kalyansinghpur, and labourers were carrying soil.

At this time, the wall suddenly collapsed on the labourers. Local residents and fellow workers immediately rushed to rescue the victims and admitted them to Kalyansinghpur Community Health Center for initial medical care.

Among the labourers, Laxmi Pidishika (45) and Daima Huika (55) have been transferred to Rayagada District Headquarters in critical condition.

The incident has raised concerns about safety at construction sites in the region. Doctors provided immediate treatment, but the administration and the concerned businessman have yet to comment on the mishap. 

Local residents have expressed alarm over the growing number of construction-related accidents and are urging authorities to enforce stricter safety measures at building sites.
