In a shocking development, Punjabi singer and makeup artist Inder Kaur, also known as Yashinder Kaur, was found dead in a canal in Ludhiana days after she was reported missing. According to police, her body was recovered on Tuesday following an extensive search operation after she disappeared on May 13.

Inder Kaur, a resident of Jamalpur in Ludhiana, had left home in her car on the day she vanished. Soon after, her family alleged that she had been abducted. Her brother specifically accused Sukhwinder Singh of involvement in the case.

The victim’s family has further claimed that the murder was allegedly planned by a Canada-based man whose marriage proposal she had recently turned down. 

Two Held, Main Accused Escapes to Canada

Police officials confirmed that two accused — Sukhwinder Singh’s father Pritam Singh and his associate Karamjit Singh — have been arrested in connection with the case. However, the prime suspect, Sukhwinder Singh, is believed to have fled to Canada after allegedly orchestrating the crime.

Authorities said the body has been sent to Samrala Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination, while investigators continue to probe the sequence of events surrounding the murder.

Friendship Turned Sour, Says Family

Inder Kaur had reportedly stepped away from singing around five years ago and was managing a boutique along with a makeup studio.

According to earlier reports cited by HT, she had become acquainted with Sukhwinder through Instagram nearly three years ago. While the family knew about the friendship, tensions reportedly escalated after Inder discovered that Sukhwinder was already married and had children.

Following this revelation, she allegedly refused to marry him or continue the relationship, which the family believes became the motive behind the crime. The family has also alleged that Sukhwinder travelled from Canada to Punjab through Nepal to carry out the murder plan. Investigators suspect that two taxis hired from Moga were used during the abduction.

After allegedly killing Inder Kaur near the canal, the accused is believed to have escaped back to Canada using the same Nepal transit route.

Inder Kaur had emerged as a recognised face in the Punjabi regional music circuit and had built a growing social media following in recent years. She was known for tracks including Sone Di Chirhi, Jija, Sohna Lagda, and Desi Sirre Da. Her sudden death has sent shockwaves across the Punjabi entertainment industry and among her fans on social media.
