UP Horror: Man allegedly set on fire by wife and her lover after being tied to cot
Incidents of extreme domestic violence and relationship-linked crimes have been surfacing with disturbing frequency across India, raising serious concerns about deteriorating social bonds and growing brutality within households. From murders over family disputes to attacks allegedly triggered by extramarital affairs, such shocking cases continue to leave communities horrified.
In yet another gruesome incident from Uttar Pradesh, a woman and her alleged lover were arrested for reportedly attempting to burn her husband alive in Siddharthnagar district.
Man Allegedly Tied to Cot, Burned Alive
According to police officials, the horrifying incident took place on May 21, 2026, in the Dumariyaganj area of Siddharthnagar. The accused, identified as Puja Gautam and her alleged lover Firoz, allegedly tied Puja’s 28-year-old husband Lalji Gautam to a cot before assaulting him.
Police sources and family members claimed that Lalji had become an obstacle in the alleged relationship between the two accused. The duo reportedly beat him, poured kerosene over his body, and set him on fire inside the house.
Father, Neighbours Rush to Rescue
The victim’s desperate screams alerted nearby residents and family members. Lalji’s father, along with neighbours, reportedly broke open the door, extinguished the flames, and rushed him to a hospital before calling an ambulance. The severely injured man was later shifted to a medical college, where he remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment.
Accused Arrested While Trying to Escape
Acting on a tip-off, Dumariyaganj Police launched a search operation and arrested both accused near a local bus stand while they were allegedly attempting to flee. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway. Authorities are also examining the sequence of events and collecting forensic evidence linked to the attack.
