The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued heatwave warnings, cautioning residents about rising temperatures and uncomfortable humidity levels that are expected to persist for the next four days.
According to the latest weather advisory, a Red Warning has been issued for Bolangir, Boudh, and Sambalpur districts for today, indicating an extremely severe heatwave situation and urging people to take maximum precautions.
Additionally, Orange Warnings have been issued for four districts, while Yellow Warnings have been sounded for 17 districts due to hot and humid weather conditions. Authorities have advised residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and remain hydrated.

The weather department has further stated that the intense heat and humid conditions are likely to continue across the state until May 29, causing discomfort for people in many regions.
However, there may be slight relief from the scorching conditions as Nor’wester thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall during the afternoon hours are expected to provide temporary respite from the prevailing heat. Despite this possibility, weather experts have urged people to remain alert and follow safety guidelines amid the continuing heatwave conditions.
