CBSE extends verification deadline, reassures students over answer sheet evaluation

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued a comprehensive advisory reassuring students and parents that all legitimate grievances regarding evaluation and scanned answer books will be thoroughly reviewed by subject experts.
Acknowledging that the post-result period is an emotionally sensitive and anxious time for families, the Board affirmed its commitment to maintaining fairness, accuracy, and transparency, as reported by NDTV.
To ensure no candidate is disadvantaged by recent technical issues, the CBSE has extended the application deadline for obtaining scanned copies of answer scripts by one day, establishing a firm closing date of May 24, 2026.
Technical Disruptions And Measures
The Board disclosed that an exceptionally high volume of traffic on its online portal within a compressed timeframe led to temporary technical disruptions during peak periods.
Students encountered various grievances, including delayed portal access, payment confirmation failures, and subsequent post-download issues like blurred images or missing pages.
System Upgrades: In response, the CBSE has implemented immediate corrective measures and system-strengthening protocols to stabilize the digital platform.
Failsafe Guarantee: The authority explicitly clarified that no child will face an academic disadvantage due to infrastructure-related glitches or process delays.
Caution Against Duplication: Families have been strongly cautioned against making repeated application or payment attempts, as doing so may cause administrative duplication and further processing delays.
Evaluation Review Mechanism
To manage the massive scale of the exercise, the CBSE successfully evaluated more than 98.6 lakh answer sheets this year utilizing the digital On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.
The purpose of the post-result review mechanism is to provide students with a secure, structured opportunity to contest discrepancies through an established verification framework.
Under this framework, every answer script that is officially flagged for review is systematically routed to a dedicated panel of subject experts. These specialists carefully verify the digital and physical records to rectify anomalies such as unmarked responses or missing pages.

Representatives urged stakeholders to ignore unverified online misinformation and rely strictly on official Board updates.
