Petrol crosses Rs 106 in Bhubaneswar as nationwide fuel price hike continues

Bhubaneswar witnessed another sharp rise in fuel prices on Saturday as the latest nationwide revision pushed petrol rates beyond the Rs 106 mark, adding to the financial burden on commuters and consumers already grappling with rising living costs.

Petrol prices in the Odisha capital increased by 87 paise per litre, while diesel became costlier by 91 paise per litre. This marks the third fuel price hike in the last 10 days.

Petrol at Rs 106.33, Diesel Nears Rs 98

Following the latest revision, petrol in Bhubaneswar is now retailing at Rs 106.33 per litre, while diesel prices have climbed to Rs 97.92 per litre.

Prior to the hike, petrol was being sold at Rs 105.44 per litre and diesel at Rs 96.95 per litre in the city.

The price of premium speed petrol has also gone up from Rs 114.56 to Rs 115.47 per litre.

The repeated increase in fuel prices within a short span has become a major concern for daily commuters in Bhubaneswar, particularly office-goers, two-wheeler users, cab drivers and middle-class families.

Commuters, Transport Operators Express Concern

Residents said the continuous rise in petrol and diesel prices is directly impacting household budgets and transportation expenses.

A large number of people in Bhubaneswar rely on two-wheelers and private vehicles for daily commuting, while auto-rickshaw drivers and small transport operators fear the hike may further reduce their earnings.

Transport sector representatives also warned that the increase in diesel prices could eventually lead to higher transportation costs and a rise in prices of essential commodities in local markets.

Several residents expressed concern over the repeated revisions in fuel prices within short intervals, saying it is becoming increasingly difficult to manage expenses amid rising food and utility costs.

Fuel Prices Rise Across Major Indian Cities

The latest hike in fuel prices has been recorded across several major cities in the country.

In New Delhi, petrol prices have reached Rs 99.51 per litre, while diesel is being sold at Rs 92.49 per litre.

Similarly, petrol prices in Kolkata rose to Rs 110.64 per litre and diesel to Rs 97.02 per litre.

In Mumbai, petrol is now retailing at Rs 108.49 per litre and diesel at Rs 95.02 per litre.

Meanwhile, in Chennai, petrol prices have climbed to Rs 105.31 per litre, while diesel is being sold at Rs 96.98 per litre.

Third Hike in 10 Days

This is the third increase in fuel prices within just 10 days, triggering growing concern among consumers over persistent fluctuations in rates.
