A major police crackdown was carried out at Rahmat Nagar in Rourkela,Odisha early Saturday morning as part of an intensified operation against alleged illegal narcotics trade in the area.

During the operation, police reportedly detained around 10 to 12 people suspected of being involved in the illegal business.

Multi-team raid conducted under senior officers

According to sources, the raid was conducted under the supervision of five senior police officers, with multiple police teams conducting searches in different parts of the locality.

Police personnel reportedly conducted checks and verification at several houses and suspected locations during the operation, which continued for hours under tight security arrangements.

The sudden crackdown led to heavy police movement in the locality as teams entered the area simultaneously and intensified searches.

Heavy force deployed amid tension and apprehension

Anticipating possible tension during the operation, police deployed nearly 15 platoons of force in and around Rahmat Nagar to maintain law and order.

Senior officials closely monitored the situation while additional police personnel remained stationed in sensitive pockets throughout the raid.

Sources said locals gathered in large numbers during the operation as police continued the anti-drug crackdown in the area.

Investigation continues

Though police are yet to officially disclose details regarding seizures or formal arrests, sources said the operation was launched as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal narcotics activities in the city.
