Now, after years of speculation and stalled development plans, the iconic Mattel franchise is finally getting its first major live-action Hollywood adaptation, bringing the fantasy warrior into a large-scale cinematic universe for modern audiences.
A Star-Studded Hollywood Adaptation
The upcoming Masters of the Universe film is directed by Travis Knight, known for films like Bumblebee and Kubo and the Two Strings.
British actor Nicholas Galitzine plays Prince Adam, who transforms into the mighty He-Man, while Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto takes on the role of the villainous Skeletor.
The ensemble cast also includes Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-At-Arms, Camila Mendes as Teela and Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn.
Backed by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films, the movie reportedly combines large-scale fantasy storytelling with modern visual effects while preserving the mythology that made the original franchise a worldwide sensation.
Indian Dubbed Versions Become a Talking Point
While the Hollywood cast has generated excitement globally, the Indian dubbed versions are equally becoming a major attraction.
Veteran actor and entertainer Jaaved Jaaferi has voiced Skeletor in Hindi, while his son Meezaan Jafri lends his voice to He-Man, creating a rare father-son collaboration.
Telugu actor Nikhil Siddhartha, Malayalam star Unni Mukundan and Tamil singer-actor Karthik have also joined the regional versions of the film.
Many of these actors shared glimpses from their dubbing sessions on social media, calling the opportunity nostalgic and emotionally special.
Unni Mukundan, in particular, described the experience as a dream come true for someone who grew up watching He-Man during childhood.
Release Date and What to Expect
Masters of the Universe is scheduled to release worldwide on June 5, 2026, including in India in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. The film marks one of Mattel’s biggest cinematic ventures after the massive success of Barbie.
With a globally recognised franchise, an ambitious live-action adaptation and strong regional voice casting in India, the movie is expected to appeal to both longtime fans and a younger generation discovering He-Man for the first time.
